Supervisor Information

Supervisors are meant to be persons to help JICE staff as well as be JACL ambassadors fostering goodwill and thoughtful dialogue among students.

This means they may assist in making announcements, distributing materials as needed, and binge a conduit to students from JICE staff. Supervisors are also asked to take the temperature of students every morning as well as help them come up with and execute their action plans.

Supervisors should feel comfortable facilitating conversation among the participants about their Japanese American identity and creating space for reflection. Supervisors should feel comfortable being JACL ambassadors.

Winter 2024 Kakehashi Project Trip Apps are now closed. Please check back for when the next Kakehashi Project Trip is announced.

Requirements for supervisors:

• Must be at least 28 years of age.

• Current/Active JACL member

• Physically fit to keep up with the rigor of the program

• Feel comfortable interacting with JICE staff

• Able to facilitate conversations with participants

• Attendance Fee of $60 USD will be required!

• Must have at least 3 COVID-19 vaccinations prior to application, and receive updated 2024/25 variant dose before leaving for Japan!
