HOW DO YOU ENVISION THE FUTURE OF OUR COMMUNITY?: NY/SC ART CONTEST

The NY/SC is excited to announce a new art contest to design our next merch item — stickers! We want to create a platform and encourage the creativity of our community. Whether you are an avid artist or just enjoy a quick doodle every now and again, we encourage you to apply!

Prompt:

“The Japanese American community has a long and complex history that continues to have an impact today. How do you envision the future of our community? Create a sticker that reflects your hopes, concerns, or dreams for what lies ahead.”

You may interpret the prompt as freely as you’d like. In reviewing submissions, members of the National Youth/ Student Council will be evaluating based on the following attributes:

  • Creativity:

    • Does the submission demonstrate imaginative or innovative thinking?

  • Adherence to Theme:

    • Does the design effectively incorporate the prompt?

  • Format:

    • Is the submission well-suited to be used as a sticker design?

  • Submission Requirements:

    • Was the project submitted correctly, including an artist statement?

The contest is open for submission until November 14th, 2025 at 11:59 HST. You can submit your work here. The contest is open to all youth ages 13-25. Your design must be 100% original (no AI generated work).

The winner recieves:

  • A $150 Amazon gift card

  • A free one-year JACL youth membership!
