Make a Lasting Impact and support JACL’s Future with

Legacy Planning

What is Legacy Planning?

Legacy Planning or Planned Giving is a type of charitable donation that is arranged in the present but takes effect in the future, usually as part of a donor’s estate or financial planning. It’s often called legacy giving because it allows donors to leave a lasting impact by including a nonprofit or charity in their will, trust, retirement account, or other long-term financial plans.

How You Can Leave a Lasting Impact with JACL

If you choose to make JACL a part of your planned giving for the future, there are multiple ways in which you can make an impact and leave a legacy with us and in the community! Here are a few different options that you can look at participating in with JACL Planned Giving:

  • Bequests: Naming a charity in a will or trust.

  • Charitable Remainder Trusts: These are similar to gift annuities but structured as a trust.

  • Retirement Plan Beneficiary Designations: Naming a charity as a beneficiary on retirement accounts like IRAs or 401(k)s.

  • Life Insurance Policies: Donors can name charities as beneficiaries on life insurance policies.

  • Real Estate or Appreciated Assets: Donors can gift property to a nonprofit

All of these plans can also be set aside for specific programs within JACL, whether you want to establish a new scholarship to support students, help fund future education workshops, or just made available for everyday expenses for the organization. Your gift can support the next generation in continuing the fight for civil rights and civil liberties and educating the public about our Japanese American community.
