San Jose JACL Responds to Baseball Team’s Racist Marketing

The San Jose Giants, a minor league baseball team, were discovered to have posted a GIF on twitter of three men engaging in stereotypical and derogatory caricatures of Japanese culture in preparation for Japanese Heritage Night at the ballpark. Social media was quick to point out the blatant racism and the team has since taken the tweet down. The team offered a tepid apology calling their post “tone deaf” and apologizing to those who were offended.

San Jose chapter co-president Tom Oshidari was interviewed by the local CBS news affiliate which can be viewed here.

The San Jose Mercury News also provided coverage in a link here.
