Korematsu-Takai Civil Liberties Protection Act of 2017

December 20, 2017 – On the anniversary of the Korematsu Supreme Court decision, Senator Tammy Duckworth and Senator Mazie Hirono introduced S.2250 the Korematsu-Takai Civil Liberties Protection Act of 2017. The legislation seeks to prevent human rights violations like the Japanese American Incarceration from happening again. Co-sponsors include Senators Richard Blumenthal, Cory Booker, Dianne Feinstein, and Brian Schatz. Rep. Mark Takano also introduced H.R. 4680 Korematsu-Takai Civil Liberties Protection Act of 2017 to the House of Representatives where is was referred to the House Judiciary Committee.
