Announcing Newly Appointed JACL National Board Members

Saki Mori – Vice President of 1,000 Club, Membership and Services

Saki Mori has 15 years of experience in the New York City nonprofit sector. Specifically, her career has developed within New York City’s youth development and workforce development programs, and her work includes direct service, program management, fundraising, organizational operations, and executive management. For the past eight years, she has worked at Workforce Professionals Training Institute (WPTI) an intermediary training and consulting organization of New York City’s workforce development field.

In October 2020, Saki joined De La Salle Academy, an independent middle school in New York City, to serve as its Associate Director of Annual Giving and Alumni Relations. In the past several years, Saki has returned to contributing to the New York City Asian and Asian American community by serving as the Vice President of the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL)-New York Chapter. In the summer of 2020, Saki was also appointed to the Alumnae Board of Convent of Sacred Heart – 91st Street. Saki is a born-and-raised New Yorker who currently resides in Queens, NY. Outside of her professional and volunteer work, she also is a lifelong New York sports fan, and is a die-hard Yankees fan. Saki graduated from Trinity College (Hartford, CT) with a dual degree in Political Science (International Relations) and French Language & Literature. She also participated in Columbia Business School’s Executive Education – Developing Leaders Program for nonprofit professionals.

David T. Lin – Vice President of Planning and Development

David Lin currently holds the position of Vice President, Public Affairs and Advocacy at IW Group.  In this capacity, he advises his clients on developing and implementing winning strategies and campaigns to advance clients’ business objectives.

Prior to joining IW Group, David worked at AT&T and he held a number of leadership positions in public affairs, public relations, consumer marketing, sales, product management and finance.  While at AT&T, he was involved with the Asian American employee resource group and is a past National President of the ERG. 

David is very active with a number of Asian American community-based organizations.   

He currently serves as the Vice President of Economic Development on the OCA National Board and he chaired OCA’s Business Advisory Council between 2014 and 2018.  He is a past JACL National President serving from 2012 to 2016 and he was the Treasurer of the Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS).

Matthew Farrells – Secretary/Treasurer

Matthew Farrells is a hapa yonsei professional within the wealth management industry. Matt has served on the National Board of JACL since 2010. During his tenure, he has held several positions, including National Youth/Student Council Chair, Secretary/Treasurer, and most recently Vice President for Planning & Development. He has also served on the Twin Cities Chapter board since 2007. In addition to his past experience with the JACL, he currently serves as President of Twin City Bond Club, an industry trade group which focuses on strengthening the local and national fixed income, broker/dealer community. He also serves on the membership committee of the CFA Society of Minnesota. Matt lives with his wife in Minneapolis, MN, and enjoys spending time outdoors, golfing, and staying active.
