Program Logistics

Airline Travel

Each participant is responsible for making their airline reservations to and from Los Angeles. The cost for the airfare will be reimbursed to you when we receive a copy of the airfare receipt. Send a copy of the receipt to Bill Yoshino at byoshino@jacl.org.

Please keep in mind the following: You must book your airline ticket to and from Los Angeles using ECONOMY AIRFARE. The program will not provide reimbursement for First Class, Business Class, or other premium categories. The ticket must be from the point of origin to Los Angeles with direct return to point of origin (no multi-destination tickets). The primary airport in Los Angeles nearest the program site is Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Your arrival must be scheduled so that you can attend the Check-in Session at 2:00 PM PDST on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 (Session I) or Tuesday, August 5, 2017 (Session II).

The program will end on Friday, July 28, 2017 (Session I) or Friday, August 11, 2017 (Session II) at 12:00 Noon PDST. Your airline departure time must accommodate your attendance until the end of the session on Friday.

Lodging

Lodging arrangements are at the Miyako Hotel Los Angeles, 328 East First Street, Los Angeles, CA, in the Little Tokyo neighborhood of Los Angeles. The JACL will secure a room for you at the Miyako Hotel. Each participant will be assigned a roommate. The room keys will be distributed following the tour of the Japanese American National Museum (JANM) on Tuesday. The Miyako Hotel is located near JANM.

The hotel arrangements are for the duration of the program only. Rooms will be reserved for three nights (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). If you plan to arrive early or stay following the program, you are responsible for the lodging cost and for securing your lodging. We will not make arrangements to extend your stay at the Miyako Hotel.

Meals & Ground Transportation

The program will provide a $250 stipend to each participant upon arrival. The stipend is to be used for meals during the week and ground transportation to and from the airport.
