Supervisor Information
Supervisors are meant to be persons to help JICE staff as well as be JACL ambassadors fostering goodwill and thoughtful dialogue among students.
This means they may assist in making announcements, distributing materials as needed, and binge a conduit to students from JICE staff. Supervisors are also asked to take the temperature of students every morning as well as help them come up with and execute their action plans.
Supervisors should feel comfortable facilitating conversation among the participants about their Japanese American identity and creating space for reflection. Supervisors should feel comfortable being JACL ambassadors.
Supervisor applications will also be due by Wednesday, October 25th, at 11:59pm Hawaiian Standard Time, however, they will be reviewed on a rolling basis. So we encourage applicants to submit their applications as soon as possible!
Requirements for supervisors:
Must be at least 26 years of age.
Active JACL member
Physically fit to keep up with the rigor of the program
Feel comfortable interacting with JICE staff
Able to facilitate conversations with participants.
