December 20, 2017 – On the anniversary of the Korematsu Supreme Court decision, Senator Tammy Duckworth and Senator Mazie Hirono introduced S.2250 the Korematsu-Takai Civil Liberties Protection Act of 2017. The legislation seeks to prevent human rights violations like the Japanese American Incarceration from happening again. Rep. Mark Takano also introduced H.R. 4680 Korematsu-Takai Civil Liberties Protection Act of 2017 to the House of Representatives where is was referred to the House Judiciary Committee.
